The Tsa Lung practice is one of these teachings considered sacred and, thus, secret and so cannot be desribed here in detail. After completing the repetitions of the practice of Ngondrö (100,000 repetitions of 5 sections), this next step consists of working with the breath and the positive and negative channels contained within one's body. It is important to note these practices consist of yogic exercises which can be very strenuous. One should have good physical condition to undertake this teaching. They are used in different forms of meditation, usually as a method to focus the mind and allow an easier entry into a state of contemplation by calming the body, speach, and mind. Tsa Lung is also used quite often during dark retreats.
Tsa Lung consists of working with the channels and prana by special yogic exercises. The exercises are used in the Tibetan Bön tradition and the Nyingma and Drikung Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The exercises are used to open major chakras and to bring the prana from the side channels into the central channel.
