The Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu is an oral transmission and one of the four Dzogchen texts in one of the Bon Canon (Kangyur) texts, which was transmitted by the founder of the Bon Buddhist tradition of Tibet, Tonpa Shenrab. This tranmission represents a continuous uninterrupted transmission of the Dzogchen teachings from the Primordial Buddha Kuntu Zangpo down to the present day. It is one of the oldest and most important Dzogchen tradition and meditation system in Bon. This type of Dzogchen teaching corresponds to the Upadesha series in Nyingmapa Dzogchen, the Mengade, or the series of "secret instructions."
